Here are some recent pics of Chou-chou. In the first two, he's just cute in his "Lucky" bowling shirt. See how funny he is about grass?! For the longest time he wouldn't tolerate touching grass..
. I guess it's a texture thing. Now he'll sit in it just fine, maybe even touch it with his hands a bit, but he absolutely won't crawl in it! Here, he shows his tripod skills, which must give him a great ab workout! The next picture is from Jarod's fishing trip to Sauvie Island. Chou-chou and I tried our best to be troopers, setting up "camp" for the day by the creek, but it was short-lived. You can see how high the grass is behind him, and our bottoms were quickly soaked. Not real pleasant, especially as I'm envisioning all sorts of bugs biting his precious baby skin. So we went and picked strawberries instead while Jarod fished, and Chou-chou managed to eat lots of dirt. Good times! The last two pictures are from our first camping trip this past weekend. You can see Jarod, our friend Clint and Chou-chou working on an impressive castle. Chou-chou's contribution was minimal, but he loved sand. I loved that he couldn't put it in his mouth very easily, since it just slipped through his fingers! We went camping with Clint, Caroline (who's French) and their daughter Hannah (nearly exactly one year older than Chou-chou). We've seen them quite a bit lately and it's nice to know another family who's raising their child bilingually. Hannah looks at me quizzically, as if to say "Hey wait, you talk like my mom!" It's also interesting to see how many words Hannah has at this point, and what language they're in (more English, but quite a bit of French). Anyway, we had a great time camping and are planning trip #2 for the end of July.
