I know it's been so long since I've updated Chou-chou's blog! This mama's been too busy, teaching summer school and working as a local coordinator for CIEE. All my busy-ness has meant big changes for Chou-chou, too! Chou-chou has been hanging with his first ever babysitter for the last week, and I'm happy to report that it seems to be going well. Alex is a college student from Texas, just in Portland for the summer staying with extended family. She meets us at PCC every morning at 8:45, at which time I hand over a groggy Chou-chou in his jogging stroller, diaper bag packed and ready to go. Alex and he go on walks while he sleeps, they play at the nearby park, go to the library and sit in the grass. I do my teaching gig (I have such a great group of students!) and then meet up with them at noon. Chou-chou's plenty happy to see me (and his primary food source:)) at that point and we say "au revoir" to Alex. While three hours a day may not seem like much, it's been a big change in routine for Chou-chou and me to have a sitter, and a change that we didn't have much time to prepare for. I was asked to teach a week before the class started (yikes!! trying to find quality childcare in a pinch is kind of hard!). BUT, it's going well! SO tired, but what's new...
Chou-chou's world has changed so much in the last several weeks, aside from the sitter business. He is pulling up on everything, bruising on everything, crawling and talking and smiling and laughing and all sorts of fun stuff. Unfortunately I feel like I'm writing in a fog and need to get to bed, but I want to make sure some of this gets down. He's been berry picking now (he just ate dirt) and took his first beach/camping trip this past weekend. Sand was so new and exciting!! We loved watching him play with the sand... it just fell through his fingers, which was nice because that way he couldn't eat it (or that much anyway). In addition to cheerios, he loves cheese (no issue with dairy in it, it would seem), avocado, banana and bread. Still not big into veggies... Two new teeth, or at least I think. It's hard to get in there without getting bit badly. Loves "brushing" his teeth, having his hair brushed, feeling new textures, playing in the shower while I get clean. He's always so happy and talkative in the morning. We just love him to pieces... what's more to say!!

Yikes! A week is a quick turnaround to find daycare and prepare to teach an intensive summer school class. I'm glad you're enjoying it, but I can picture all too well how hard it is to get everything done satisfactorily. (At this point I know how long it takes to get a baby out of the house in the morning.) And what is the other job you refered to--what do you do for that and who takes care of Chou-chou when you're working?
