(written on Feb. 25)Chou-chou's had a big week! His Ton-ton Casey and Tatie Jenn came up to see family and meet baby Chou-chou last Wednesday and just left today. Ton-ton Casey, in true Casey style, thought Chou-chou was pretty cute but was also really weirded out by the whole thing. It was weird for him when I got married, and now a baby?! Plus, I'm sure just seeing Chou-chou in the physical, knowing that they share 1/4 of their genetic make-up, was pretty awesome. It's just me and Casey my family of origin, so adding a new family member is a pretty big deal. Ton-ton Casey and Tatie Jenn aren't jumping on the baby bandwagon anytime soon, if ever, so Chou-chou is a real novelty, I think. Chou-chou took to Tatie Jenn, but was a bit awkward in Ton-ton Casey's arms (I was surprised he even held him, so not bad for a first meeting!) Oh yeah, and my big brother is in some ways a perpetual big kid, so seeing that his baby sister has a baby, and that his own parents are grandparents, must make him feel a little, well, older than he'd like.
On to Chou-chou's Chi... let me just say that I don't really know anything about "Chi". I know that it can blocked or not, or at least I think. It's sort of a buzz word that people throw out there, like "karma", as far as I'm concerned. But this morning, in the hands of a craniosacral therapist, Chou-chou got a little work on his "Chi," and I'm cautiously optimistic that it did something good. At the recommendation of Chou-chou's new Naturopathic doctor (who we're using as a complement to his normal pediatrician), we took Chou-chou in for this alternative therapy. She thought taking him to see someone might be good to take care of any residual torticollis problems, and possibly help with his digestion issues. Chou-chou's always been a pretty temperamental nurser, and nurses in record speeds, especially during the day. So since we have chiropractic insurance coverage, and also since we're first time parents who want to do any and everything possible to be the best parents we can be, we signed him up. Chou-chou wasn't real wild about being felt up by some weird guy, especially on an empty tummy after a minor catnap in the car, but he made it through. And it seemed like he didn't mind hanging by his feet either! Apparently this is a good thing, hanging babies by their feet!
