Christmas 2008

How do I begin to describe the last month and a half in the Hobbs household... it's exhausting just thinking about trying to recount! Poor Chou-chou's blog has sufferred because of our overwhelming real, non-virtual, life. Today is Christmas, though, and by some "Christmas miracle" (to quote Jarod), most of our belongings have made it to the new house, in spite of virtually unprecedented amounts of snow in Portland and no moving truck. Well behind schedule, but nonetheless...

Jarod sweetly put up and decorated our tree last night, too, just like the night he proposed... Amidst stacks of boxes, furniture, and a wife stricken with the 24-hour flu, he strung lights and hung stockings. This year, unlike that first Christmas together, our tree is filled with more than just cheap shiny metallic balls and lights; along the way we've acquired a small assortment of meaningful ornaments to decorate our family's tree... a boxful of memories to reminisce about each holiday season. This Christmas I feel so grateful to have been blessed with such a wonderful man to call my husband and father of my child. Sappy as it may sound, we've had a trying couple of months and I'm thankful I've had a "rock" at home for support. We'll have to take a raincheck on the turkey dinner this year, but I'm sure this white Christmas will live in infamy and, one day, we'll have a good chuckle about the whole thing.
